Meany PTSA News 9/22/17

It was a dark and stormy night...and we were thrilled to see so many of you at Tuesday's PTSA General Meeting! Highlights included an update from Principal Oatis, an overview of our current financial outlook from the acting PTSA Co-President, a survey from the budget committee, a fundraising brainstorm, some great conversation about the value of working together to build a diverse and equitable PTSA, and much more. Thank you to those who attended, and we hope to see many more of you next month.

The Budget Committee needs your input!

The PTSA is in the process of revising the 2017–2018 budget so it reflects the interests of our school and family community and is supported by a thoughtful fundraising strategy. As required by WSPTA bylaws, a budget committee is working with staff and PTSA chairs and volunteers to recommend a budget on October 12. We want to hear from you what kinds of budget items you believe are important: please complete this survey and return to the school office with your student. Paper copies will also be available at Curriculum Night. Please contact Anne Friedlander with questions or if you'd like to be part of the budget committee.

Special Education parent group

Do you have a student with an IEP or 504, or are you in the process of requesting one? Consider joining the Meany Special Ed parent group. Casual meetings once a month will facilitate conversations about the challenges and frustrations, joys and triumphs, and processes and paperwork involved in raising special kids. The first meeting will be the evening of October 11. Email Lori to join the group or learn more about it.
