Spring Concerts are around the corner

There are two Meany music concerts coming up you won't want to miss! Tuesday, March 27th the Cadet Band, Senior Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Drumline will be performing in the Meany cafeteria at 7pm. And on Tuesday, April 3rd, the Cadet Orchestra, Senior Orchestra, and Choir will perform at 7pm. Information for performers on arrival time and dress requirements was sent home with students. If you have additional questions regarding your performer, contact Mr. Mosgrave (Band/Orchestra), Mr. Gagiu (Choir), or Mr. Walker-Loud (Drumline).

Special Education parent group

The Meany Special Education parent group will next meet on Tuesday, March 27th at 6:00 pm in the library. Please join us if you have a child with a 504 or IEP, want to learn more about Special Education, or are interested in being an ally for Special Education and supporting this vital part of our diverse school community. Contact Lori Hiltz to RSVP or learn more.

Get in on Family Game Night

Bring your entire family for Game Night with Blue Highway Games in the Meany cafeteria on Tuesday, April 17th from 6:30 to 8:00pm. Concessions will be available for purchase for $1 each. Games will be available for purchase as well. Enjoy a fun and slightly competitive evening with the Meany community. Volunteers needed to come early and learn the game rules. Contact Lara Kreyenhagen if you are interested in volunteering.

Meany Madness is a-Mazing!

The Meany Money incentive program is going strong. Teachers report an uptick in positive behavior in the classroom and around the school, and students say they are receiving Meany Money even in the lunchroom and hallways, which shows a consistency of motivation across their day. Raffles and prizes have spurred additional enthusiasm and encouragement, and an extra challenge called Blackout Bingo focused on specific Meany values is getting some good engagement. Big props to Ms. Marks and Mr. Hunter for creating this wonderful program!

Make a difference at Meany

The Meany PTSA is looking for new board members for the 2018-2019 school year. The organization is up and running, and there's clear direction focusing on the school community needs and outreach events for next year. It's a great way to get to know other families at the school, you’ll work with the diverse Meany community, and it's a reasonable time commitment. We’re particularly looking for people to work as volunteer coordinator, communications chair and on the outreach and budget committees. Contact nancymcjensen@gmail.com for more information.

Calling all student artists!

Artists of all types needed for the Meany spring art showcase on May 6th. We are looking for any music groups, dance groups or individual performers who would like to participate. Let’s show off a  broad display of the talents amongst our students and families. Please contact Lara Kreyenhagen if interested.
