We hope you were able to enjoy the dulcet tones of Meany's own Cadet Band, Senior Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Drumline in their performance this Tuesday! There's still more music to come—on Tuesday, April 3rd, the Cadet Orchestra, Senior Orchestra, and Choir will perform at 7pm in the Meany Cafeteria. Information for performers on arrival time and dress requirements was sent home with students. If you have additional questions regarding your performer, contact Mr. Mosgrave (Band/Orchestra) or Mr. Gagiu (Choir).
Unique opportunity to build emotional skills through gaming
Atlantic Street Center’s CoRe Gaming Group is an innovative project tailored to serve middle schoolers by using video games as a therapeutic tool to help teach interpersonal skills, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation, combining evidence-based therapy (such as DBT, CBT, and SFBT) with gaming to help youth accomplish their goals. CoRe is designed to develop and instill Courage, Cooperation, Respect and Resourcefulness values, taught via skills that help youth stay safe, remain calm under pressure, communicate respectfully and persuasively, expand their connection to their family and community, make lasting and valuable friendships, and develop achievable goals for themselves and their communities. CoRe gaming is taking applications for the Spring group now. There are only 8 spots open and they will be granted based on first come first serve. The group will meet for several weeks on Wednesdays after school in Ms. Baker's room, beginning on April 18. Learn more or download the application.
Get in on Family Game Night
Bring your entire family for Game Night with Blue Highway Games in the Meany cafeteria on Tuesday, April 17th from 6:30 to 8:00pm. Concessions will be available for purchase for $1 each. Games will be available for purchase as well. Enjoy a fun and slightly competitive evening with the Meany community. We still need a few more volunteers needed to come early and learn the game rules—sign up if you're able! Contact Lara Kreyenhagen with any questions.
Make a difference at Meany
The Meany PTSA is looking for new board members for the 2018-2019 school year. The organization is up and running, and there's clear direction focusing on the school community needs and outreach events for next year. It's a great way to get to know other families at the school, you’ll work with the diverse Meany community, and it's a reasonable time commitment. We’re particularly looking for people to work as Volunteer Coordinator, Communications Chair, Treasurer, and on the Outreach and Budget Committees. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Calling all student artists!
Artists of all types needed for the Meany spring art showcase on May 6th. We are looking for any music groups, dance groups or individual performers who would like to participate. Let’s show off a broad display of the talents amongst our students and families. Please contact Lara Kreyenhagen if interested.
