Nominating Committee for PTSA Board
The PTSA Board needs your help to build its next round of leaders! We are looking for 2-3 folks to serve on our Nominating Committee for the 2019-2020 school year. This is a great role for someone who wants to volunteer for a short, set amount of time. Mostly you'll talk with existing and incoming parents about their willingness to serve on our board.
For those of you who may have served on a board in the past, a middle school PTSA is a very reasonable time commitment, especially in comparison to elementary school, and Meany's board goals map directly to the school's needs.
Please let Nancy Jensen, PTSA Legislative Chair, know if you're interested.
Meany Middle School Info Night for Central Area Families
The Meany PTSA and Montlake PTA will host an informal meeting for prospective/incoming Meany students and their families in the Montlake Elementary School library on Wednesday, January 23rd from 7:00-8:30 pm. There will be a panel of current Meany students and parents to answer questions and share information about Meany. More information can be found here.
Volunteer Opportunities Available in the New Semester
Help grow our community and support our teachers by assisting in the classroom! We are in the process of lining up parent volunteer help for the new semester. We have volunteer opportunities in math class, ELL, world languages class, homework club, and in the library, and we are expecting more assistance requests as the semester progresses.
If interested, visit the SPS Volunteering Page to learn more and complete the training. It will take at least 1-2 weeks to hear back from the district about your application, so we encourage you to get started as soon as possible.
Snack Donations Requested
Mr. Fields, our Family Advocate at Meany, has requested donations of low sugar/healthy snacks to provide to our Meany students who may be experiencing hunger during the school day. He has requested items like, granola bars, fruit snacks, low sugar drink boxes/pouches, single serve crackers/pretzels.
Donations can be dropped off in the school office labeled "PTSA/Mr. Fields". Please contact Jen Emrich with any questions.
