About Meany Middle School

301 21st Av E, Seattle, WA 98112

Meany Middle School is a public school serving the diverse residents of mid-central Seattle.

Our community of students, staff, families and neighbors work to ensure that each student acquires the knowledge, skills, and core values necessary to achieve personal success and to enrich the world. We are student focused, building confidence through the critical transition between elementary school and high school.

As a neighborhood school the majority of our students live in the area we serve – 92% of our student body lives in the Meany attendance area.

Diversity

Our student body represents the diversity of our community, roughly ⅓ white, ⅓ black and ⅓ multi-racial, Hispanic or Asian. Our staff is also diverse – most students see someone who looks like them in the classroom or the office.

Special Programs

Meany hosts four special education programs, including Access, Focus, Social/Emotional, and Distinct. About 1 in 5 students at Meany are served by an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or 504 plan. Students with IEPs have a case manager to help with scheduling and accommodations while the 504 Coordinator or school Counselor support students with 504s.

The Meany Health Center (in-school health clinic operated by Country Doctor Community Health Centers) opened in November of 2019 to offer no-cost comprehensive medical and behavioral health services, including sports physicals.
